this is a great book for anyone struggling with any type of Eating Disorder. It has helped me so much in my 2nd round of recovery by relating to almost all she says and actually applying the techniques as discussed by both the author and her therapist. I would also recommend it to family members to gain a glimpse inside the head of someone they love wrestling with an ED to try to gain some kind of awareness and understanding of the absolute all consuming mental obsession that it is.

This is a first hand account of someone going thru treatment for an eating disorder, aka Ed. If you or a family member or someone you know has an eating disorder this book will help you understand. While the book is an easy read, it's hard to read if you, yourself or someone you know is going thru this. Without knowing it, Ed had moved into my home and became my youngest daughter's BFF. Ed is a vindictive and malicious liar. Don't read this book all at once. Read one section at a time and apply it or work thru it with your family or therapist. It's still one day at a time for my daughter, but, now those days are becoming weeks. There might be slips and there will be times that are harder. Ed will always try to put his foot in the door and weasel his way back into our lives. Now, we can see him coming down the walk and slam the door in his face.

This book was amazing. It was like reading about myself. I am only starting my recovery. This book has really helped. I can't believe how I could relate to so much in this book.I really hope that I can be as successful as Jenni in divorcing Ed. I really hope I can do it. I would recommend anybody suffering with an eating disorder to read this book. Thanks Jenni for writing this book.

Having an eating disorder (ED) is a challenge, but this author inspired me to deal with mine. She named hers Ed to indicate it was an issue in her life, but it was not "her." I found this to be a helpful approach, and I've lived over three months without a binge! The author is honest and straightforward in her approach, and I found her very inspiring.

After years and years of dieting and binge eating and starving myself, only to end up heavier than I have ever been, I saw an eating disorder therapist. One of her first recommendations was to read this book which I found very helpful in understanding by I am this way. We use food to numb our feelings. It's an excellent book to start your recovery from food addiction and eating disorders.

This book should be labeled as a universal guide for all addictions. If you are OCD in any way read this book. Anorexia and Bulimia are all about control which puts it in the OCD category. This book does a great job of explaining the daily fight of the addition and how it seriously controls a persons every minute and how to take a serious course of action to recovery.

This book is a very personal and often excruciating story about battling an eating disorder. The author's approach was to personalize her disease as an emotionally abusive boyfriend who tries to keep her dependent on him by constantly reinforcing her negative self image. The approach seems to work, although she emphasizes that it is a lifelong struggle.

An excellent chronicle of Jenni's battles with her eating disorder. Gives the reader, if unfamiliar with the trials and tribulations of eating disorders, a very personal appreciation for what individuals living with such disorders go through. Apparently, even after Jenni made incredible progress toward living without "ED" (Eating Disorder), the temptations, potential relapses, and "ED's" demanding to come back into and control her life never really ends. The upshot is that she gained enough confidence, with the invaluable support of family and friends, to face "him" and keep him at bay. Her personal journey is worth the read!

Dior's house was not only worldly, sumptuous, and smart--it translated Dior's New Look vision into an interior design idiom. It was an irresistible opportunity to investigate the rarely-examined relationship of fashion and design. My mission--to explore the artistic intersection of these three men--provided endless discoveries. The modernity behind the romanticism of the New Look astonished me. Victor Grandpierre, a former journalist and photographer, created the gray and white neoclassical vocabulary that are relevant to and define Christian Dior to this day. Georges Geffroy, one of the most colorful characters in Cafe Society, was the longsighted designer of the post-war era, the first to mix Tibetan rugs and signed 18th century furniture. Christian Dior, a fashion genius conversant on architecture, contemporary music, and art, viewed his work through the lens of history. It is perfection and gives the reader a different slant of one of the most original and iconic of all fashion designers. Dior’s love for creativity in his fashion extends to his homes and salons and love of his gardens. Given the background of the elegant creators he worked with and Dior’s vision it becomes an intriguing story and the accompanying photographs are the icing on the cake. Adding to that icing an exquisite forward by another iconic influencer, Hamish Bowles. I do a monthly Fashion Book Club and this was a highlight of the series. The first two books are linked together as a series, but the third one is not character-related to the other 2 in the series. I enjoyed reading the first book, "The Huntress of Thornbeck Forest," because it reminded me a little bit of Robin Hood but with a twist. The second one, "The Beautiful Pretender," continues the storyline from the first, but reminded me a little bit of Beauty and the Beast vs Princess and the Pea. Enjoyed the character development in the second story and was wishing there was a third one to continue this storyline. The last book in this collection, The Golden Braid" follows the fairy tale of Rapunzel, but with a great twist. You will enjoy all three and will want to continue reading other books by this author.

It is difficult to find stories that touch the heart like these do. I liked the fairy tale aspect to the books. The Golden Braid, in particular, is definitely the best Rapunzel retelling I've read. The other two novels were less retellings and more new, unique fairy tales of their own that used old elements from various tales. There is a Christian focus to the stories which was great, and all the romances were very sweet! I definitely will be reading more of the author's books, because these are now some of my favorites.

What a delightful set of stories. They really kept my interest. So many twists and turns. Suspence at its greatest. So clean and refreshing. Can't wait to read more. Thanks

I really enjoy Melanie Dickerson's books. This one is not her best, but still enjoyable.

I would rate these books 4.5 stars. The characters were extremely fleshed out and believable. I just adore a good medieval love story, and all three of these definitely delivered. Intense action, twists, and the tie-in with traditional fairy tales was stellar. I wouldn't call myself a 'strong christian,' but I loved the fact that these books were clean. It was refreshing for me to know I wouldn't have to skip a page or two of sexual language. I'd much rather read for the story value and for the story taking me someplace and time. The Christian aspect didn't bother me, I imagine when faced with great peril most people pray. I liked how the characters were virtuous and upheld their beliefs and vows. I had no intention of reading this author because I didn't want a book to preach to me. I was already 1/3 of the way into the first book when I realized it was Christian fiction. I really toyed with the idea of putting it down, but I was already hooked. I simply couldn't leave Odette, I needed to hear her story. The other two were equally enticing, Dickerson certainly knows how to create good characters. I am planning on reading more of her fairy tales, I hope they are all as good as these three!

I was excited to get this book, it has loads of patterns HOWEVER there is no stated finished size of squares. Instead it says that you *should* have compatible squares if you use the same weight yarn with the same size hook (or something to that effect). There are no listings of stitch repeats so if you need to size up or down you're on your own. I have come across more than one pattern that has incorrect directions, i.e. (paraphrasing) chain 10 make corner, 4 times then the next round it says 10 dc to corner make corner repeat 6 times. If there are only four corners how do I repeat that six times? There are multiple places where it says to work into (example) ch 3 space when the line before indicates a ch 2 space. The book is spiral bound and while that's not a real problem the way the inside covers are attached, made of plain paper, lends them to VERY easy ripping. I've had this book for 3 days, I'm not keeping it. I can find inaccurate patterns all over the internet for free.

I wish i hadn't bought this. There are a lot of nice patterns with WRITTEN directions, but no SYMBOL charts. And there are numerous errors. I've learned to check the symbols when I get confused and not a single one of them has a chart. Very expensive for the quality.

There are a ton of beautiful designs in here, unfortunately the instructions were not very well proofed and there are a lot of mistakes, or badly written directions that would lead a beginning crocheter to frustration and confusion. If you are a relatively comfortable mid-level crocheter I'm sure it would be no problem, just take the directions with a grain of salt and if something seems wrong it probably is, make your best guess to adjust the pattern and you'll be fine.

This is a great book, but it really needs a "picture" table of contents or index. It is very difficult to find what you're looking for as there are no sub categories to separate the hundreds of patterns.

I've been crocheting for over 45 years and I found some of the instructions confusing. Where one repeated same instruction in same space where it should have been skip one space and work in the next space. I wrote out the steps to for better understanding and to work out a solution. Would have been so much better if a diagram were included. So, if you are experienced and an able to find a work around solutions buy the book. But if you are inexperienced it may put you off on crocheting. It does have some pretty motifs and found that putting the effort to "fix" the problem was worth it.

Book would be rated much higher if metal comb binding didn't come open so the pages fall out. Anyone know how to stabilize the binding?All pattern abbreviations aren't in the glossary - using this book reminds me about the old Sears Catalog instructions -- "start at the beginning and keep reading until you find what you're looking for."

Great mix of different square's. Love it so much I purchased both a kindle and print copy. Also told all my crocheting friends about this book so they can enjoy it as well. A few changes would be in order though... My first change I would have the stitch counts at the end of each row or round. I have noted that some of the patterns have that but lots of them do not. My second change would be the binding. As a well loved pattern book I can see that the spiral binding would come undone. Mine has already only a few weeks into owning the book. I've managed to get it back into place but thinking there has to be a better solution for this. So for content of the book you all get five stars ... Though for the binding you only get two stars ... Thankfully I have both versions so I can use my hard copy more as a close up reference copy or I would have had to return it .

The Big Book of Granny Squares has a nice collection of granny squares, but the binding could use some redesigning. I first checked this book out at our local library to dive into the world of granny squares. I liked the book and the interesting patterns in it so much that I decided to buy the book. I like the variety of granny square patterns this book contains. The patterns have different difficulty ratings from one (*) stars to four (****) stars which helps when you to pick out which granny squares you want to work with in a project. I wish that the patterns in this book would mention how many stitches you should have at the end of each row like many of the other patterns I have worked from other sources. To a beginner in crocheting granny squares some of the patterns can be a bit confusing, but with some crochet common sense and ingenuity it's not too hard to figure out the difficult/confusing parts in the patterns. I'm giving this book four stars for that reason and the fact that spiral binding is only threaded through thick card stock which contributed to my book arriving with some minor damage to the holes in the thick card stock which holds the spiral binding in place. I would suggest to anyone else who orders this book to reinforce the holes in the card stock both in the front and back.

I have been at my wits end when I had my wedding ten years ago. We actually didn't have any wedding planner who could help us out with our wedding ten years ago. While the event was done tastefully in my opinion, I still believe that there were a lot of things we weren't able to do during the wedding.Now ten years after, my two youngest siblings are planning their respective weddings (my brother within this year and my youngest sister due next year). To help them up with their upcoming nuptials, I decided to buy this Wedding Planning Guide by Sam Siv to help them along the way. I believe that this had been the most comprehensive wedding guidebook yet that I have read. It does cover all the basic necessities that a nuptial must have, including the choosing of the perfect wedding dress, accessories and stuffs for the bride and the groom, the venue and decorations, even the themes and motif and photography. Not to mention the gifts and the shower parties involved.There are a lot of things I actually didn't have on my own wedding but now, with the help of this book, I want to make sure that nothing will be left out. I want to make sure that my siblings would have the best days of their married lives with the help of this Wedding Planning Guide.

I just got engaged in December and have seriously begun to start laying out the beginning framework for our wedding. This book was a God send in just the fact that it went over so many little details that you would never normally think of if you have never been married before and/or have never really thrown a large event. This is certainly the case for my fiance and I so we honestly did not even really know where to start. This book breaks down where you should begin your planning process and it helped guide me to create a planning binder so I can stay nice and organized through this process. It even helps break down big decisions, like finding a venue, based on several small factors like is there going to be enough parking for all of your guests? What does the price include? Are staff going to be present the day of your wedding? The venue section was also really helpful for me as I made a checklist of questions to ask each vendor and venue representative when we met with them. We are looking at several venues next weekend and I feel confident that I will know what to look for thanks to this book. It was truly helpful to just read about the order of the planning process as this is what most of my questions revolved around. My fiance even looked over the book and he has been pretty hands-off the planning process so far because he finds it all stressful. I am hoping just having something that breaks the seemingly never ending event into small details will be helpful for him to feel less stressed about the process. Luckily, we are enjoying a long engagement (20 months) and have plenty of time to work out all the kinks and details. This book has been a great stepping stone for my fiance and I to actually enjoy the process of planning this large party and thoroughly enjoy our wedding day! This book definitely helped motivate me and organize my wedding planning. It gives you insight into the smaller details that are often over looked when planning. It keeps it organized & highlights the important stuff. It helps with a timeline outline of amount of time things should be decided/purchased before wedding. Chapters include an introduction, setting the date and guest numbers, venue for your wedding, how to set a wedding venue, how to set a wedding budget (this was the most helpful chapter for me), choosing the wedding party, choosing your wedding dress, accessories for the bride, and much much more!! Really covers all the questions/decisions/purchases that go into planning a budget friendly wedding. This book has alot of information to help with every single part of the wedding planning process even alot of things that you dont normally think about needing to plan for. It literally covers everything for the wedding with examples and good details to think about. Theres some pictures to go with each section and its a really thought out book with great structure. I bought this book because I am the upcoming Maid of Honor to my best friend and she is quite clueless on how to plan her wedding. When I got married, I bought a similar book to help get me through the planning process, so I decided on this one because the description seemed to cover all the necessary planning bases. And when I say that the author covered everything, I couldn't have spoken truer! There is literally everything you need to know in this book! I can list over 20 topics that are covered and I couldn't think of anything that wasn't covered when I finished the book. Have questions about budgeting? Boom, that's covered with spreadsheets and fee advice. Accessories for your bridal party or the flower girl? That's covered in a chapter on its own. While the wedding isn't until the Spring, I have very confidence that this book will help us get through it as smoothly as possible. Excellent source of information!
