I loved this book as a kid! This is a slightly different version so it doesn’t go 100 % along with the read aloud that is available online or if you still have the original record.

My 2 year old saw this book on the back of one of his other Golden Books. He asked for it a few times on separate occasions, so I went on and ordered it. He absolutely loves it! We have read it at least 10 times. My 9 year old even came and snuggled the first time we read it out loud.

I bought this for myself because I loved this story as a child. When I originally owned it there was a record that was included. I feel sorry for the newbies that don't get to hear the carrot stew song. I'm 40 years old and my mom says she still knows the words.

For every Golden book we own, this and "The Please and Thank You Book" are the best! The timeless pictures and meaningful characters help both boys and girls learn about not judging a book by it's cover and how sometimes people can change. My daughter shared many story times beginning with Tawny Scrawny and his silly lil' rabbit.

I vividly remember picking this up to read off the bookshelf in grade 2, growing up in Jamaica. Wonderful addition to the library I'm building for my baby

An old story, I orginally had it in the 50s. I have gifted it over the years to friends' children and gkids. Heartwarming story that is a subtle teacher of tolerance and kindness.

This book remains my favorite children's book...maybe even more meaningful than the iconic Velveteen Rabbit. An allegory about a starving lion who chases and eats every animal in the forest--but never seems to get full. He's alone in the world, hungry for things that can't fill him up. One day he's chasing rabbits...and the rabbits invite him to join them for a supper of carrot stew. He accepts the invitation, fully intending to eat the rabbits before the evening is out, but discovers that the carrot stew actually fills him up! All along, it isn't meat he's starving for, but love. In short, the only thing that can fill a hungry soul is relationships and community. What a terrific story. I buy copies for my friends who are chasing after material things that can't fill the empty places inside. The Tawny Scrawny Lion offers a simple, yet profound lesson in the power of unconditional love to heal a broken, hungry heart. Like so many great children's books, the message may be wasted on the young. Children start out knowing these things...and gradually forget.

Sorry, but I just can't believe half of anything in this book. I stopped reading about half way through because it felt like I needed to be wearing hop boys to wade through the bull. He claims he can twist a man's head off with a little effort. I'm not buying it.

I've read a number of Special Forces/Ops & 'Black Ops' books, most of which were good read's, then forwarded to my son who's now serving, but this one really "stands out"! It's one I keep asking if he's started yet--knowing he's busy and still one or two behind where I'd like him to be. I even encouraged my son to check into Mr. O'Neal's unique style of martial arts and survival training...Gary O'Neal truly captures the essence of his life's experiences and woven them into a captivating & gripping story. From a kid who never knew his Native American mother, but learned skills from his War Hero dad, coupled with the 'spirit' of his Indian mother, opened doors that few ever could. Who else could be driving his grandparents to church by12 years of age, in a car he essentially bought from a scrap yard where he turned some wrenches, slapped some gas, grease, and paint in & on it and drove around!? Who else could survive a number of close calls with death--not only in battle, but also while stateside--unless there was a calling?Who else? Except one who's been gifted and called to do what few qualify for? Then later tell the story in such a fascinating way that you find yourself wishing he'd write a follow-up. Hat's off to this legendary Ranger!

This book answered quite a few questions I had about M. Echanis. I knew he had died in Nicaragua but never knew anything else about him. Mr. O'Neal must be in good with someone because he has more lives than a cat. What a shame people like him don't run the military, instead we have a bunch of ladder climbers who panic over a paper cut. The contribution he has made as a soldier to this country can never be repaid. When you hear some old soldier say been there did that ask him if he knows this Ranger. Thank you for your contribution & service to our nation, hope there are more like you out there. I for one will sleep easier.

Great book, Gary O'neal is someone you certainly would NOT want as your enemy. However, I get the feeling if you met him out in public he would come across as a super nice guy...just don't tick him off, or make any sudden moves around him :-)I don't see how in the world men like this get along in society though. It has got to be super boring for them most of the time. Living on the edge all the time in combat has got to be a rush in it's on way. Day to day life out of combat would, to me, seem boring in a way. I hope he finds peace and happiness, he served this country well. I thank him for that.

An exciting story of the legendary Army Ranger Gary O'Neal from childhood through his military career. Full of special operations missions that helped shape Mr. O'Neal and that Mr. O'Neal used to shape others. Having had the opportunity to hear Mr. O'Neal speak at a charity event last year, reading this book brought forth a lot of insight as to how some of his mannerisms were shaped by his past. A stalwart man who has been dealt more than his fair share of hardships in life, overcoming them all to be inducted into the Army Ranger Hall of Fame, this book is well worth a read.

I believe that this young man at a very early adult age did not really have a good to individual to be a good mentor that he could follow. As a very young man he joined the military. That gave him structure in his life. This he totally enjoys. This has given him individuals that help guide this man to do extreme physical and mental activities.The fact he has no one back home to help guide him. In the military he learns to follow individuals as a careerWhen he is discharged as a young man he finds strength in his family heritage and believes.His travels world wide as a young man gives him a advantage to be able to travel anywhere his skills were needed. I work here in America but my company is owned by a French company. Earlier last month I was required to travel to France to meet with the upper level executives regarding business matters and my trip was to last two weeks. Instantly after hearing the news, I was in a bind because I had absolutely no previous knowledge of the French language...even the simple commands so I went on Amazon and downloaded this e-book to my kindle. Every night leading up to my trip I spent an hour reading and I was able to finish the entire book in less than a week. The content discussed was focused and concentrated so I was feeling good for my trip. However I never appreciated the book until when I arrived to my first meal in France with the upper level executives alongside my English speaking translator. I was able to take part in a meal with all French speaking partners and I was able to fit right in even while being a foreigner! I can contribute my success and confidence in the French language to this book and also the audio section which I listened to on my flight. To make the most out of this book I highly recommend learning the important phrases which are located in the meat of the book, they became and essential when speaking English was not an option. I also want to mention the etiquette section at the end of the book, it was spot on! I recommend this book to anyone traveling to France or looking for a fun way to learn French. I have since looked into other books since I've been home and no other competitor offers such an easy read and easy way to learn French. My only suggestion is some words are spelled the UK way and not the American way, so when this book becomes a big hit there should be two different versions.

I dream of traveling to France someday and if I get the chance to go, this book will be a big help with the language. There is cultural background of France, and do’s and don’ts of what to do there. The tables in the beginning help describe how to pronounce words correctly. I like learning by sound, and the additional mp3’s that are downloadable are helpful. I’m a beginner to French, yet this book was easy to understand.

I’ve always wanted to learn French, and even took it in high school, but of course forgot almost everything upon graduation. Now I’m in my twenties and I figure the sooner I get serious about learning French, the sooner I can become bilingual, and the sooner I can go on that dream Parisian voyage without getting lost in translation, haha.So I turned to this book for help with phrases and pronunciation, and I’m getting exactly what I hoped for. The nonchalant tone of the author helped me learn more without getting overwhelmed. A lot of language books will simply list the pronunciations of words/letters and it ends up feeling like some sterile rulebook. But a lot of the lessons end with something like “don’t worry, you got this”. It actually helps! I’m probably not going to master French. I wish I could, but I’m just too busy. I can learn the correct pronunciation and some basic phrases, but I don’t want to learn the entire language. I just want to visit Paris one time before I die and not feel completely clueless. With this book, I can do that. If I need to ask questions about my luggage, I’ll just flip to the luggage section. If I need to visit a pharmacy while in France, I’ll flip to the pharmacy section. If I want to order dessert, there’s a section for that too. So easy!My hubby and I have talked about taking a driving vacation through France. (He grew up in Germany, so he’s braver than me when it comes to driving in a foreign country.) Luckily, there are appropriate sections in this book. They have sections on buying gas, auto breakdowns, and car parts. I hope we don’t ever experience a breakdown in a foreign country but, if we do, we will be prepared.

I do not like the box they are in...as it is flimsy and rips; however, this is super easy to fix----just get your own plastic container afterwards. The cards contain all the need-to-know information and are SUPER HELPFUL and I would definitely recommend purchasing!!!

Wasn't what I expected but had good information. The cards are more paper instead of cards. They are thin and very fragile.

I just don't know how well I like these because I have a drug book and I like the book a little more than the cards. I am also a little particular about keeping items in order so this is a little difficult for me to use. But that is also a personal problem, the cards themselves are very well written and a nice layout for the drugs.

These are incredibly useful if you can find what you are looking for. They are difficult to navigate. I was required to purchase these for my nursing course, but I found a few different resources more useful.

Cards have good information on them but they are extremely thin. They could not be used in clinical because they cannot be cleaned. If you are using them to study they are a great resource but not for use in the clinical setting.
