A friend of God - this book goes beyond an autobiography. It encourages the reader to seek a close relationship to God, trust what God tells us, and step out in faith. This is illustrated with personal and Biblical examples of prophets who have gone the extra mile. Kim suggests that God stretches our faith, and once we have walked in a particular path with God, God is going to advance our level of faith to a new dimension. One of many examples Kim gave was about Moses having to strike a rock to produce water. He did that and water gushed forth. The next time God told Moses to speak to the rock. Instead of speaking Moses struck the rock - while that was something that Moses knew worked in the past, God was trying to take Moses to a new dimension of faith speaking to the rock. I came away from reading this book with great hope and inspiration. I highly recommend this book.

I never paid too much attention to this prophet until recently and after he died. I find this book most revealing about him as he explains his life at gut level and I understand more perfectly how God uses all the talents and abilities that are given to His own. A worthy read for sure.

I really enjoyed this book very much! I wish Kim Clement had told more of his prophesies that have come to pass in the book -- perhaps a bit simpler ones as the few he did mention were very deep! Very insightful, fascinating book and I feel sure the reader will desire to hear God's voice for themselves as much as I do!

There are no words to explain! The persecutions he had to endure, speaks to my heart! The simplicity of his writing, anyone can write a book! I love the fact he quoted my facts from the Roman Catholic Church, the Saints etc. That'sa true prophet! Not condemning or judging!I am looking forward to his return with us, here on Earth!Now, you may 'Call Me CRAZY!' but that's possible according to Luke 18:27 (Whatever is Impossible With men is possible with God'!And also a years years are like one day in God's eyes!' (2Pet.3:8)☺

My 17 month old has recently taken an interest in anything to do with animals, so when I saw this book, I decided to give it a try so I could read/show it to him. Overall, I am pleased with the book especially given that right now, it's free.Pros:- It has 50 pages of mammals and mammal facts. The facts are short, but it's intended for children, so that's ok.- The pictures of mammals are close up shots. Some of the books i've been reading to my son show the animal at a distance, or with other animals. This book, however, shows each animal solely so your child can easily distinguish which animal it is. There are land-based mammals and sea-based mammals in this book, so I have an array of different mammals to show/teach my son.- It's a super easy read. If your kids are like my son, they're constantly throwing a book in your lap to read. I can zip through this book in about 4-5 minutes flat, getting it out of my son's blood for about an hour.Cons: (none. for the price, you really can't gripe about this book)To my 17 month old son, this book is awesome as he can see many different animals/mammals in a different light from his other animal books. I would recommend this book to any parent looking to entertain their child with something other than a television.

“Big Mammals of the World” is a 52 page book that will capture the attention of your animal loving child. It is packed full of beautiful colorful photographs. The book also contains approximately 20 interesting animal facts scattered between the stunningly vibrant pages in the book.The book is short and concise so that it will hold short attention spans very well. I would also like to add that this is not an easy reader for children though because there are a few tough words so parents will most likely have to actually read this aloud for their younger children. Although this book is technically recommended for children of all ages, as a teacher and a mother, I would probably recommend that this book is most suitable for approximate ages 4-10. As a mom and a teacher, this would also be a great book to have on a device in your classroom for children to be able to enjoy in a reading center.Every evening my son and I curl up on the couch and enjoy a book together, and lately he has been insistent on me reading from my phone. I was very impressed with this book. I have a toddler and preschooler and like to find ebooks for them that have amazing pictures and a few interesting facts I can share. Often in this type of book I find that the text doesn't exactly match the picture. Usually the grammar is horrific and some sentences practically require translation. Not so with Big Mammals of the World. The pictures were amazing. The facts were relevant to the picture shown and I found it easy to discuss the picture in relation to them. They are also more in-depth than with most books, expanding my knowledge about some different mammals as well. I was also impressed with the variety of mammals included. In addition to elephants, rhinos, and gorillas, the book goes under the see to explain how whales are mammals as well. This is perhaps not a revelation to you or I, but having anything in common with a *whale* blew my 3.5 year old's mind. I highly recommend this book for both preschool children and younger gradeschoolers and plan to make sure I have it with me next time we go to the zoo so I can discuss more of the interesting facts with my children.I received this product free or at discount for my honest testing and review. This should probably be read in conjunction with Philip Hill's Lacan for Beginners, the latter of which takes a more linear, deterministic approach the likes of which Leader, in accordance with his readings of Lacan, tends to repudiate. That being said, it distills the seminars, which one should also be advised to read, into a nice exposition. The layman--and I sort of am one--should keep in mind that academics at some of the country's best universities have spent years studying these theories and still find them difficult to comprehend; one can conceivably spend years writing a Ph.D. dissertation on said theorist...the upshot of all of this being that one shouldn't get discouraged if even the ostensibly "lowly" comic book is perplexing.

The basic information is all there, it seems. But to comprehend it, you have to deal with some bizarre syntax and poor editing (kindle edition). I had more luck reading about each subject on Wikipedia and then coming back to the book to stitch it all together. I have enjoyed other entries in this series quite a bit, so this was disappointing.

The "Graphic Guide" captures many of Lacan's basic ideas with creative pictorial imaginations. I have published on Lacan myself and know very well many other introductions. You can not compare those with a Grahic Guide. That seams quite obvious to me. Therefore taking into account what a "graphic guide" can do I was astonished about the many insights this little book can convey. I know other books of Darian Leader and I think with this book he did a very good job again.

Concise and easy to follow. Highly recommend!

Lacan does not really come across as stimulating in this presentation, though perhaps it is in fact informative on the life and work of Lacan.

I bought this book because I expected to enjoy it, but although I read the whole thing, only one chapter, on the Irish Famine, actually held my interest. The problem with the other chapters is that they are so diffuse that they end up seeming to say almost nothing. The weather, it is a'changin, is the theme, and it is supported by paragraph after paragraph of sweeping generalizations. Yes, there are small anecdotes scattered throughout to enliven the weather-reporting, but in the end, they all blur together.Picture reading a summary of the weather in the United States over the past 10 years, and you will have a very good idea of how this book reads: Some regions experienced extreme cold and snow during the winter, while other areas in the west were dry and sunny.l The springs were warmer than average, rainfall was heavy, and there were hurricanes and tornadoes in the south. Now stretch that out for page after page and see if your head does not begin to nod.The thesis of the book is that, well, we can't engage in environmental determinism, because that is an academic taboo, but we can say that the climate has changed and that history has happened, and that there seems that there might be a connection. Not very compelling, is it? *Of course* changes in climate *cause* changes in human behavior and thus in history! If the area where you can or cannot grow food changes, then that will perforce change where people live and how they live, and that's history! Was the French revolution caused by the extreme poverty of French peasants, and by the fact that their overlords seemed to have no interest in how they produced the food they all needed? Who can doubt it? And does climate affect the ability to grow food? Obviously!The one chapter that really hung together was An Ghorta Mor, about the Great Hunger in Ireland caused by the failure of the potato crop. For the first time in the whole book, the author slows down and focuses on a single region and a single period of time, rather than sweeping from decade to decade and place to place. And that works. But mostly you read things like, "Weather in northern Europe was extremely cold. The rivers in xyz froze over. New Zealand, meanwhile, was also cold, and there was famine in China." Just too broad to be of any interest to read.Some people complain about the fact that the author tacks on comments about our current Global Warming controversy (if controversy it is) and appends a chapter at the end making a somewhat half-hearted argument that yes, global warming is real, it is man-made, and it might be bad. I really don't care by the time I get to that chapter, because he has already demonstrated to my satisfaction that the climate has changed many times and we don't really know why. If a Little Ice Age brings suffering, might a warm age actually ameliorate human life in some way? Maybe. Might it spur new technologies? Probably. This is hardly a screed telling me to give up my car and ride a bike to work. All the evidence herein suggests that mainly, we don't know, the patterns are irregular and hard to interpret, and that extreme cold is no picnic for human civilizations.One other point that deserves mention is the choice to use metric measurements throughout the book. Ok, I get it, as Americans, we are the only ones who aren't very familiar with those measurements. But the intro gives false information about the relationship between kilometers and miles. And then throughout the rest of the book, I would have to mentally translate every fact: winters were 2 degrees C. colder, and the glaciers advanced 2.5 kilometers down into the valleys. Often, instead of absolute numbers, we are given comparisons, but all this just makes it hard for me to form a mental image of what it was like. New York was 2 degrees C colder than 10 years before, and there were 28 days of below-zero weather. (Is that below zero C? If so, isn't that pretty much what winter is?)I really expected to be interested in the daily life of Europeans from 1300-1850 and how weather impacted them, but in the end, I didn't feel that I got that. Maybe it's because the facts are just so diffuse--no trend is obvious enough close-up to make much of a picture. But I think the author made many bad choices, giving us too many broad statements and not enough picturable narratives.

Archeologist Brian Fagan has been in the forefront of studying how climate affects civilization over time for more than two decades. This important study suggests that in recorded history there is evidence of fundamental shifts in climate, and each has portended changes--sometimes drastic ones--that affected the human population. His specific subject this time was a colder period during the later Middle Ages and the early modern era in Europe and how this affected the European civilization. Based on a variety of sources ranging from historical documents to analysis of tree rings and deep ice cores, the period between about 1300 and 1850 was marked by a cooling trend around the world.Known as the "Little Ice Age" this era was actually a period of modest cooling following the mediaeval warming period that lasted into the twelfth century. Coined by François E. Matthes in 1939 there is little agreement either as to the start and end dates for the "Little Ice Age," or the extent of the cooling that took place. There does seem to have been three specific cold intervals: one beginning about 1650, another about 1770, and the last coming in the 1850s.Brian Fagan's fascinating book offers in an accessible manner a study of this event in history, laying out its complexities, its disputes, and its evidence. At a core level he emphasizes how these changes in climate affected life in Europe, its population, its food supply, etc. In some respects it is easy to assess the role of these changes in European history. Fagan makes the case that the storm that decimated the Spanish Armada in 1588 was in part the result of climatic shifts. So too, was the cooling trend that forced the Norse out of Greenland in the thirteen century. The famines of the mediaeval era also seem to have been in part the result of the "Little Ice Age." This may well have been a contributing factor to the bread riots in Paris that helped foment the French Revolution of 1789, when grain harvests suffered and grain became much more precious and food shortages resulted.Fagan makes a convincing case that climate change in general, and the "Little Ice Age" in particular, affected the structure of European civilization, and such dramatic--even cataclysmic--events as those mentioned above are very real and quite significant factors to which not enough historians have paid serious attention. The real challenge, and Fagan admits this as well, is in determining how much of these major events in human history may be attributed to climate change and how much to other factors. It's a difficult question and one that requires considerable analysis.I really wonder how close to the edge of a precipice modern society truly is, when considering such things as climate change. Could we see in the twenty-first century major shifts in history due to changes in the climate? Conceivably we are already starting to see food shortages, water shortages, etc., because of climate change. What might it portend for the future? Exploring part relations between climate change and civilization might help to illuminate some of these concerns. Working in this arena really does move one beyond nationalist narratives and into global themes. I would like to see more efforts by historians and other social scientists along these lines."The Little Ice Age" is an excellent, accessible introduction to a complex topic in human history. It is only, however, the starting point for considering a fascinating topic.

I used Admiralty in a Nutshell to prepare for my Admiralty class and exam in law school. I would not recommend using this book in place of a course in Admiralty or a case book, but this is thorough and explains concepts well. The table of contents at the beginning of the book is detailed, so you don’t have to go hunting through the text searching for information on a specific topic. The chapter layouts make sense, and the topics build on each other in an easy to understand way.This book is one of the only Admiralty hornbooks on the market, and luckily for for me it also turned out to be helpful.

I want to preface my review with this: if you are taking an admiralty law class, buy this book!I don't normally make such sweeping recommendations, but this book was amazing and invaluable in helping me understand admiralty concepts and supplementing my readings.The nutshell goes into good detail on key-concepts of the subject such as: Admiralty jurisdiction, what is a vessel, navigable waters, maritime torts and contracts, salvage, and 2 important admiralty categories: longshoremen and seamen.The book however is not perfect and it does not cover the 3rd category: Passengers.Overall though, this was probably one of the best nutshells or supplements I've ever used for a class.

I work in International Trade Law, and wanted to expand my understanding of Maritime & Admiralty Law, so I could improve my practice skills to meet the needs of potential clients. After considering several Hornbooks on the topic, and rather than taking CLE courses right off the bat, I decided to prime my understanding with a walk around the basics of Maritime & Admiralty Law. This book presents a clearly written, no bones approach that allows you to absorb the major points of this area of law, without cluttering the presentation with Socratic inquiries or tangential topics. The manner in which it is presented includes a discussion of a topic area, and some discussion of major case law, as well as information about how this area of law may or may not coincide with the common law in non-maritime/non-admiralty cases. It also pays close attention to areas where state law and admiralty/maritime law intersect. This is vital for two reasons: first, it gives you the kind of practical advice that helps you best serve your clients, and second, it gives you a hint about scenarios in which it might be better to associate with counsel with greater expertise in a particular area of law.I find the text easy to read and understand. It is well organized, and it was clearly well-planned. I highly recommend this guide to a neophyte practitioner with an interest in maritime or admiralty, or to a student who wants to find out more about this area of law.

I highly recommend this for anyone who is starting off in the maritime field. It gives a great overview of the field in a very succinct fashion. It also serves as a good refresher when you're practicing if you need to find a quick reference or review a topic.

This particular nut-shell was recommended to me by a leading admiralty trial attorney during an interview. Since I graduated from a law school that did not offer courses in maritime law, I neeeded something to give me a foundation in that area, so I could compete with interviewees that had graduated from law schools that offered maritime law classes. Well, the book did just that; it contains alot of substance and covers maritime law issues in the perspective and tone of a practioner. Although it's a small book, it offers a needed foundation to a vast and complex and interesting field for the out-sider.

I hated this book. Plain black and white text not very interactive at all. The information is jumbled, would not recommend.

I ordered this book to help study for Admiralty Law. I wish I would have ordered it in the beginning of the semester. It covered many of the topics that we went over in class and it explains the various concepts well. Since I ordered it right before finals I didn't have time to thoroughly read it. I read only the chapters that covered stuff I was least familiar with and I found it helpful. I definitely recommend this book.

While working on my thesis, I used this book to research laws of maritime courts. This book was a life saver...
